LIVE SEMINARS, WORKSHOPS, AND BREAKOUTS
When you want your team to participate in a full learning process live on site seminars or workshops are a good option. At conventions, retreats, or office training rooms the best way to conduct training is with fully developed course materials accompanied by a knowledgeable and experienced trainer.
PSI provides all this and more for your training needs. Seminars are mostly lecture based presentations that run from 90 minutes up to 4 hours. Workshops are participant involvement type presentations usually offering case studies, roll plays, team exercises and testing. Many such training venues also offer follow up training that can run from a few weeks to one full year. Some training programs are designed to also include video content for extended learning.
Breakout sessions are usually associated with conventions or regional / national company events. A breakout session is usually one of several such mini-events with time frames of 45 to 90 minutes. Some will go for two hours when the content requires more audience participation. The key benefit of breakout sessions is that a series of mini-programs are offered to allow participants to attend one or several of them as needed or required.
In all programs the most important consideration is the content:
- What is the program about?
- What information is being shared?
- How is the information to be used?
- How is the audience engaged in the program?
- Are there follow up materials to be used later?
- Will testing be a component of the program?
- Is a pre-program assessment required?
- Are multimedia considerations a requirement?
- Will there be more than one speaker / presenter?
- Will the training require more than one day?
- Will catering be a consideration for the program?
In summary, training is important and there are many other considerations than just those listed above. Note that with the advent of the Internet there are now a multitude of options for delivering training content, but live presentations are still considered the premium way to engage the audience.
